Being fashionably late is one thing, but two whole hours? Lauryn Hill had fans in a tizzy after the iconic singer showed up unreasonably late to her own headlining show.
Hill was scheduled to perform in Atlanta on Friday night, but ended up performing for less than 40 minutes due to her arrival time, The Guardian reports.
So what explanation did she give? In an open letter posted to her Facebook page a couple days later, Hill explained that she has trouble "aligning" her energy with time.
"I don't show up late to shows because I don't care. And I have nothing but Love and respect for my fans," began the letter. "The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn't easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others."
"For every performance that I've arrived to late, there have been countless others where I've performed in excess of two hours, beyond what I am contracted to do, pouring everything out on the stage," Hill continued. Later, she concluded the letter by promising to make it up to her Atlanta fans - I'm assuming, of course, if she's able to successfully align her energy with time.
