The best celebrity beefs are the ones you don't see coming, and this one - Miley Cyrus V. Mariah Carey - is one for the books. Seriously, like, have they even met before? I don't even picture them as existing in the same universe.
But anyway. Apparently they at least know of each other, because Miley took time out of her day - and her Elle cover story - to throw some shade Mariah's way.
It all started when the interviewer asked her about her new job as a coach on The Voice. Miley started off by going off about how much she hates it when contestants have sad stories.
"It's like, if you're going to have someone win because of their story, go write a screenplay about your life," she said. "On The Voice, I try to steer away everyone who comes in here with an idea of what 'the voice' means, which is that you've got to be the pitch-perfect singer."
So where does Mariah come in? The interviewer then asked Miley about a comment she made during filming of the show. She told a contestant that not everyone can be Mariah.
"I've never really been a fan, because it's so much about Mariah Carey," Miley explained. "That's part of her shtick; I can see through that."
"That's part of what makes her a gay icon; like, it's about Mimi," she continued. "It's about what she's wearing, and it's about her. What I make isn't about me. It's about sharing my story; it's about someone being connected to what I'm saying."
Girl, Miley, why? There's no way Mariah's shady self is gonna let that slide. We all saw how she came for the Kardashians earlier this year, so get your popcorn ready, guys.
