We've watched Nicki Minaj grow from a Harajuku Barbie into the tough woman she is today, but what was Miss Maraj's life like before she even became Nicki? This is precisely what a new ABC Family series will be exploring with an upcoming show just announced today, based on Nicki's childhood in Queens, New York as an immigrant from Trinidad.
Nicki's spoken openly about her troubled past, so it'll be interesting to see how the show is adapted for a family-friendliness. According to Vulture the show will depict the “"the personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom."
“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” said Minaj. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
Not much else is known about the new show, including its title or what role Nicki herself will play. Some are guessing that she'll be guest starring as the narrator, while others are thinking she'll be playing a lead character. The series will be written by Kate Angelo, best known for her work on the 2014 film “Sex Tape.”
