Tyler, The Creator's First Fashion Show Was Insanely Genius
The future is still odd, and it looks promising.
On Saturday, rapper Tyler, The Creator premiered his wacky, colorful, highly imaginative fashion line on the runway and it was everything you'd expect and more. In one of the most innovative moves the fashion industry has seen in some time. Tyler not only shocked with the clothes, shoes, and furniture designed solely by himself -- he also made use of his internet-age smarts with pre-sales up a few hours after the show, and a "throwaway" song that was created for just that night called "My Ego" (now made available for online streaming.)
GolfWang is the name of his line, and it's pretty much agreed that it's already changed the game. Peep a recap below.
First, there was the teasing.
Then, the show began. In a large bed, and with one of the coolest closets you'll ever see (that Tyler also designed), it got off to a eye-popping start. Press play.
He gave us this amazing moment of #blackboyfly.
Oh, and there were motorbikes and skateboarders. Here are a few other looks:
And yes, it included clothes for children, too.
Also, I'm clocking this coat and I'm taking names for anyone who purchases it before me. #thehitlist
Most pieces appear to be genderless. There was also a skit/play... followed by a performance!
But none is complete without some post-show flexing.
Especially when it's about custom shoes you designed yourself. That look boss AF!
Did I mention that everyone in attendance was guaranteed a first generation of his forthcoming shoe line?
