A 15-year-old Colorado boy was arrested Saturday for the murder of 10-year-old Kiaya Campbell, KDVR reported.
The boy, who wasn’t named because he is a juvenile, was booked into a juvenile detention center while cops continued to investigate kiaya’s death.
“It’s still ongoing, and there are still things to tie up at this time,” said Officer Victor Avila, Thornton Police Department spokesman, to The Denver Post. “That’s why we’re keeping it close to the vest … to make sure we get a successful prosecution at the end of this.”
Campbell disappeared on Wednesday after she and the son of her father’s girlfriend walked from their house to a nearby shopping center, Fox said.
The 15-year-old boy reportedly told police that they got separated during a rainstorm. Police wouldn’t reveal whether this boy was the teen charged in Campbell’s death.
Campbell’s body was discovered on Thursday about a mile from her house.
A coroner found that the death was not accidental, but the exact cause of death has not been released.
