Steve Stephens, the man accused of murdering the elderly Robert Godwin and posting the video on social media, had been at large until today when he was found to have killed himself after a police pursuit, according to CNN.
"After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself," Pennsylvania State Police said.
Over 400 tips flooded police stations nationwide following the posting of a $50,000 reward for information that would lead to the apprehension of the murderer. The search for Stephens had lasted three days before coming to this conclusion. He had been considered armed and dangerous.
The AP reports that the killer was spotted by state police in Erie County, Ohio early this morning. The car was stopped before a chase ensued, during which the killer ultimately comitted suicide.
