A father from Yonkers has pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree manslaughter for the 2016 Christmas Eve beating death of his 2-year-old son.

Twenty-six-year-old Blair Robinson repeatedly beat and kicked his son Alex, resulting in fatal organ damage and brain hemorrhages, NBC New York reported.

After the brutal beating, Robinson decided it was time to take a nap. Then, he went to work for an hour and a half before returning to his home to bring Alex to the emergency room. The toddler was pronounced dead shortly after.

When authorities investigated Robinson’s home they discovered Robinson’s 10-month-old daughter suffering from diaper rash on a mattress with no sheets located in a cold room. A bottle of curdled milk was reportedly beside her, the Yonkers Daily Voice reported. Police said the home was full of rodent droppings and flying bugs. There were even insects flying around the inside of the home’s fridge.

The mother of the children, 22-year-old Kenya Reed, was home when police arrived. She has been indicted for child endangerment. The little girl was taken by protective services.

Robinson faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced this December.
