A father shot and killed a man who shot his daughter in the back Sunday morning in Gainesville, Georgia. Authorities said they don't plan to file charges against the dad, according to WXIA.
Police say 25-year-old Thomas McNulty (pictured, left) shot his 22-year-old girlfriend Jessica Rusk (pictured, right) in the back after an argument around 4:30 a.m. The couple have a small child and shared the home with Jessica's parents. Jessica's mother called police after McNulty fired his gun. Floyd Rusk, Jessica's 57-year-old father, fatally shot McNulty soon after that, according to WXIA. The boyfriend died on the scene while Jessica is in stable condition.
"Obviously violence would be the last resort," said Lt. Scott Ware of the Hall County Sheriff's Office. "If you can avoid violence and call 911, you know, we would obviously prefer that no one get hurt. That would be the best case scenario."
No charges had yet been filed yet, but the District Attorney’s office will review the case, according to Forsyth County News.
"If that was the same situation with us, and somebody hurt our daughter, you know, we're gun owners and we'd probably do the same thing," a neighbor told 11Alive.
