Is Donald Trump under investigation for obstructing justice? Trump confirmed that he was over Twitter, dismissing the inquiry as a witch hunt. Now, despite direct contradiction from the President himself, Trump's attorneys are saying he isn't being looked into.
Here's the Trump tweets:
And here's what his lawyers are saying:
“We’ve received no notice of investigation. There’s been no notification from the special counsel’s office that the president is under investigation,” says Trump attorney Jay Sekulow.
But it gets even more confusing. Within the course of a different interview, Sekulow directly contradicts his own statements about the investigation:
"He takes the action that [the Attorney General’s office] recommended and now he’s being investigated by the Department of Justice...He’s being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency who recommended the terminations..." starts Sekulow.
"...You’ve stated some facts. First of all, you’ve now stated that he is being investigated..." interrupts Chris Wallace.
"No," responds Sekulow.
"Oh boy, this is weird," Wallace says later in the interview.
Well, ok then.
