A former teacher accused of having sexual relations with a student has been found dead.

According to the Journal Sentinel, authorities believe that 39-year-old Christian Tomsey of Milwaukee died by an apparent suicide.

A Dominican High School graduate recently alleged that there was an inappropriate relationship with Tomsey in 2009. The school fired the English teacher in late July.

"Upon learning of the allegation, our administration immediately conducted a thorough investigation into the situation, which resulted in the termination of Mr. Tomsey’s employment," officials said in the letter sent out Monday.

Last week, Tomsey was booked on potential charges of sexual assault of a student by school staff and possession of child pornography.

Milwaukee police confirmed the incident is being called a "sudden death." They are investigating the death as a suicide.

Tomsey's girlfriend found him dead in their apartment with multiple stab wounds. He left behind several notes.

Tomsey was scheduled to go through a divorce hearing on Monday with his wife.
