The Utah man who allegedly killed his wife last month aboard an Alaska-bound cruise ship during their 18th wedding anniversary pleaded not guilty on Wednesday afternoon.

Thirty-nine-year-old husband Kenneth Manzanares is accused of murdering his wife, Kristy Manzanares, 39, in their cruise cabin.

In various reports, witnesses said that Kenneth told them that he killed his wife because she “wouldn’t stop laughing” at him and that he “snapped” after she told him she wanted a divorce.

Their three teen daughters joined the high school sweethearts on their trip aboard the Emerald Princess. Kristy suffered a severe head wound. Authorities have not yet released her official cause of death.

On Wednesday, Kenneth appeared in federal court via video from a courtroom in Juneau, Alaska, PEOPLE reported. His lawyer has not commented on the case.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help the family.
