We’ve had a little info thrown at us here and there about Kim Kardashian’s experience while she was held at gunpoint during a robbery in Paris last October. We know her “engagement” ring from Kanye West had been taken, that she’d been tied up in the bathtub, and that there were a number of robbers involved in the case. Now that arrests have been made and the first formal charges lodged, Kim’s own words of her terrifying experience have been released. Page Six reports that Le Journal du Dimanche has shared Kim’s testimony to police, in which she recounts exactly what happens that night.
First of all, the thieves stole closer to $10 million in jewelry, rather than the originally reported $4 million. Not that losing $4 million isn’t huge, but that’s more than twice as much as we thought.
Kim described how it was when she realized people were coming into her apartment:
“I heard noises at the door, like footsteps, and I asked, shouting, who was there. No one answered. I called at 2:56 a.m. my bodyguard. I saw through the sliding door two people coming, plus the man from the reception who was strapped."
“The two men were hooded," she continued, "the one had a ski mask and he had a cap and a jacket with ‘Police’ written on it. The individual with the ski goggles rips out my Blackberry phone.”
Kim initially tried to hide her engagement ring, which the robbers were familiar with and demanded. She said she didn’t know where it was, but when one of them flashed a weapon she told them.
She also explained that the robbers somewhat inefficiently tied her up then carried her to the tub, saying, “I was wearing a bathrobe, naked underneath. Then we went in the room again and they pushed me on the bed. And, at this time, they strapped me with plastic cables and tape on my hands, then they taped my mouth and my legs.”
Kim stated that she could tell the robbers were young because “of the way they strapped” her, which is a bit mysterious. Perhaps she just meant that they were inexperienced because she was able to wiggle out and call her family and the police. In addition to the engagement ring, they stole "two Cartier diamond bracelets, a Jacob gold and diamond necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a diamond cross-shaped necklace, a yellow gold Rolex and a necklace with her son Saint’s name in diamonds" as well as her iPhone and Blackberry. But they didn’t take cash.
It sounds like Kim's horrifying hold up was at the hands of some very inexperienced people indeed.
