A man started shooting at his wife after he discovered she had taken a bite out of his grilled cheese sandwich, police said.
His wife told police that she was in the kitchen making dinner when she heard a gunshot coming from downstairs. She went down to the basement, where she saw her husband Daniel Blackwell, 55, surrounded by guns and ammunition. She went back upstairs to the kitchen, at which point Blackwell began shooting from underneath her, through the basement ceiling and up to where she was standing on the kitchen floor.
She and her three teenagers fled the house and called police, telling them that the grilled cheese incident prompted the assault.
After a three-hour standoff, Blackwell was subdued by cops and charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and illegally owning firearms (Blackwell cannot own a gun because of a previous assault violation). Police seized a total of 15 guns from his home.
