Sara Domres (29), a married high school English teacher in Wisconsin, is now facing up to two years in prison after being caught sleeping with a 16-year-old student. Domres will be barred from the teaching profession following her guilty plea in which she admitted to sexual assault.
One of the victim's friends reported the relationship to the police, leading to an investigation and arrest. Law enforcement recovered over 1000 texts between the teacher and student.
Reminiscent of the plot of Alissa Nutting's controversial novel Tampa, Domres had sexually engaged with her unnamed student numerous times leading up to her arrest, even sleeping with the child on the night of her fiance's bachelor party and texting with him while on her honeymoon. Their relationship had been ongoing since May of last year.
According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "As part of her sentence, Domres will have three years of probation after serving two years in prison and must register as a sex offender."
