A mom in Houston, Texas has been charged with capital murder in the stabbing death of her own daughter.
34-year-old Laquita Lewis allegedly texted family members Sunday evening to tell them she hurt her 4-year-old daughter, Fredricka Allen. Her family called police, and when the authorities arrived at Lewis’ apartment complex they found Allen dead.
"She texted that the baby had gone to heaven, that she had killed the baby," Randy Sample, a relative, reportedly told KHOU. “It's insane, to take a 4 year old’s life like that."
According to the Associated Press, Lewis began texting family members from a hospital after being injured in a traffic accident. Police said that Lewis also got into a fight with her boyfriend on Sunday.
“It’s the worst news you’d want to hear about a family member -- especially someone of that age. It’s devastating," Sample said.
The scene was so disturbing, according to KHOU, that chaplains were sent to console both family members and the deputies who found the little girl’s body. Allen’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.
