Two women are facing prostitution and child endangerment charges after an undercover bust outside of Shaler Township, Pennsylvania. Police arrested Brittany Vareha, 27, and Malinda Chalmers, 41, after answering an ad on the website Escort Babylon. Both women were living with their children inside the home where they conducted their illegal business, according to CBS Pittsburgh.
Detectives answered the ad, which read "Fine female with curves that don't quit looking to help you relieve your stress," along with photographs of Chalmers. After arranging a meeting, the undercover officer went to the home where Vareha answered the door and sent him upstairs to where Chalmers was waiting for him. She said the visit would cost him $60, and then told him to get comfortable. Police then entered the home and arrested both women.
Police found pills, heroin and drug paraphernalia in a dresser drawer in Chalmers’ room. Vareha then locked herself inside a second-floor bathroom with drug paraphernalia, before surrendering and being arrested on an outstanding warrant. According to the criminal complaint, Chalmers said she had been actively involved in prostitution for the past few weeks.
Police say during the entire incident Chalmers’ 15-year-old son was in a back bedroom. They also found Vareha's 4-year-old boy in the living room, who was later handed over to his grandmother. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, both women were charged with endangering the welfare of children and prohibited acts, while Chalmers was also charged with prostitution and possessing instruments of crime.
