Model Iana Kasian was found dead in a West Hollywood apartment in May of 2016. Now, results from her autopsy reveal disturbing details about her violent death.
According to the New York Post, reports from medical examiners now say that Kasian had been tortured extensively before being murdered by her boyfriend, graphic novelist Blake Leibel. She was found to have been scalped, had parts of her face torn off, and had her blood drained. The report also concluded that Kasian had bite marks on her jaw.
Leibel, the son of wealthy Canadian real estate tycoon and Olympic sailor Lorne Leibel, has since been charged with her murder. He has pleaded not guilty. He had been arrested at the scene of the crime, only a week after being released on bail from rape charges (not pertaining to Kasian).
The New York Daily News reports that one of Leibel's novels, titled Syndrome, depicts a killer draining his victim's blood.
Kasian's body had been found at the couple's home in West Hollywood, California, next to her unharmed 2-month-old baby. She had moved out of the home following Leibel's rape charge but had returned to talk with Leibel. When she was not heard from again, her mother called the police.
Leibel has been officially charged with one count of murder, mayhem, aggravated mayhem and torture, and a special circumstance allegation involving torture and mayhem. He potentially faces life in prison.
