Parents Of Teen Who Committed Suicide: He Died Playing 'The Blue Whale Challenge'

The teen's family believes he died playing a morbid online challenge that is supposedly played on Facebook and Instagram.

A 15-year-old teen boy committed suicide on Saturday by hanging himself in his closet. Next to his body: his cell, propped up on a shoe, broadcasting his death, according to KSAT.

Isaiah Gonzalez’s family believes his death was part of the Blue Whale Challenge: an online game that urges participants to engage in 50 daily tasks that include self-mutilation. The tasks allegedly become increasingly more dangerous as the game advances. The challenge is supposedly played on Facebook and Instagram.

“It talks about satanic stuff and stuff like that and my son was never into that,” Jorge told WOAI of the Blue Whale Challenge.

Isaiah's sister, Alexis, claims that threats are sent if game taks are not completed.

CNN reported on Monday that a 16-year-old girl also committed suicide while taking part in the challenge.
