Actor Ryan Phillippe‘s ex-girlfriend filed a lawsuit Monday accusing him of beating her and throwing her down a flight of stairs.
Elsie Hewitt, 21, filed the civil suit against the 43-year-old star of Shooter.
According to PEOPLE, Hewitt claims Phillippe got violent with her on the Fourth of July.
In court documents, Hewitt claimed that the two got into a fight after a party. The Guess model went to Phillippe’s house along with a friend to pack up her belongings in the early hours of July 4. A fight allegedly ensued between the two, who had dated for three months.
Hewitt accused the "Cruel Intentions" star of ”repeatedly abusing a panoply of legal and illegal drugs, including without limitation: cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and steroids…Phillippe increasingly combined these drugs with excessive alcohol consumption and often exhibited symptoms attendant of poly drug and alcohol abuse, including mood swings and bouts of anger.”
But, a source close to Phillippe told PEOPLE that Hewitt was the one with the substance abuse problem.
“Elsie showed up to Ryan’s house uninvited and under the influence a few days after he had broken up with her,” the source said. “She physically attacked Ryan, caused a scene and refused to leave his home. As she was removed from the premises, she claims she fell and injured herself... She has since tried to seek revenge and fame by sending glamour shots of herself to media outlets with a false story of domestic violence. “
Hewitt’s lawyer, Keith Fink, dismissed those allegations and said that the model was already famous. Meanwhile, Fink said that Phillippe was “just married to a famous person.” The actor was once married to Reese Witherspoon, whom he had two children with.
“She’s not going to take a dime, I am not making a dime, [if she wins the case] the money is going to a domestic violence charity,” Fink said. He and Hewitt are seeking 1 million dollars. He also pointed to the bruises on his client's body, of which there are photos of. “Did she make up the bruises on her body?” She allegedly still has scars on her left leg from the alleged assault. Hewitt and her attorney allege that Phillippe “picked [her] up like a doll and tossed her down the stairs a second time.” He then screamed, according to TMZ, "Get the f*** out of my house you crazy c**t."
A spokesperson for the LAPD told PEOPLE that officers made a report into the alleged attack and granted Hewitt an emergency protective order back in July, which expired July 12.
