A former high school student won $750,000 in damages after being sexually abused by his married English teacher in 2011.
New York Post reports that Kevin Eng was a 16-year-old student high school at James Madison High School in Brooklyn when the incidents occurred. Erin Sayar, 36, tutored Eng in English after school. She gave the teen marijuana and they had sex and oral sex in their office and in her SUV.
Sayar initially faced 50 criminal counts of statutory rape and sex abuse. But she took a plea deal and has been sentenced to a decade of probation. She is now a registered sex offender and has been stripped of her teaching license.
Her husband left her in 2013, according to The Post.
Eng’s lawyer had filed multiple civil motions over the past five years, and each time Sayar didn’t come to court or respond to legal letters.
James Madison High School was nicknamed “Horn Dog High School” after an English teacher was caught with child porn on his computer, according to Crime Online. Another teacher was also accused of having sex with a student inside a classroom at the same high school.
