Texas Father Arrested After Video Shows Abuse Of 2-Year-Old With Cerebral Palsy

The video was recorded by the father's sixth-grade son.

A Texas father, Alejandro Gonzalez, was arrested after video surfaced of him violently shaking his two-year-old son with cerebral palsy. The video was caught by Gonzales' older son.

According to the Austin-Statesman, an affadavit states that Gonzalez had grabbed his son by the hair and shook him while he sat in a high chair. He was reportedly angry because the child would not eat. The boy has trouble chewing and swallowing because of his medical condition.

The older son said that he recorded the video with the intention of showing it to an older relative. The Statesman adds that a deputy later confirmed the content of the video. He had kept the video a secret so that his father would not discover it and later reported the incident to his middle school, reports KXAN. Police later found bruises and other marks on the child, saying that it seemed that Gonzales had been "disciplining the child with a belt and fly swatter."

Gonzales has been charged with has been charged with injury to a child. His bail has been set at $100,000. He is currently being held at the Williamson County Jail on Tuesday and potentially faces up to ten years in jail.
