Trump Retweeted A GIF Of Him Hitting Hillary Clinton With Golf Ball And Internet's In Disbelief

Did this Trump ReTweet showing violence against Hillary Clinton go too far?

Donald Trump is no stranger to Twitter tirades. The President took to social media yesterday for a series of disparate tweets but it's one tweet against Hillary Clinton that has many stunned. As Vox shares, Trump retweeted a GIF showing himself hitting Clinton with a golf ball.

"Donald Trump's amazing golf swing #CrookedHillary," the original tweet says. In it, Trump is seen swinging a golf ball. Then Clinton is shown from behind boarding a plane and falling down.

Trump has been vocal about his displeasure of Clinton even after the election has ended. During the campaign, he referred to her as "Crooked Hillary" and encouraged his followers to "lock her up!" Pundits pointed to this retweet as his endorsement of escalating violence against his Democratic opponent.

"President of the United States fantasizing about inflicting violence on his defeated rival, the first female major party candidate for POTUS," said Jeet Her of The New Republic.

"Trump has a series of disturbing but predictably unpresidential RTs this am. This shot of violence against women is a new low even for him," shared Joyce Alene, a University of Alabama law professor and contributor to MSNBC.

Glenn Thursh of the New York Times added, "Classy retweet by the leader of the free world, man with nuke codes, fella who reads TelePrompter on national unity and respect for women."

Many critics pointed to Trump's problematic relationship with women during the campaign up to now. In October 2016, he infamously boasted in a previous interview with Access Hollywood that stars like him could get any women they wanted. “When you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything," he touted to host Billy Bush after making sexually inappropriate comments about a female guest on the show.

In January 2017, 15 women came forward with sexual assault allegations against Trump. A slew of women, including a writer for People, shared that Trump allegedly kissed or groped them against their will. After calling his accusers liars, one of the accusers is suing Trump for defamation.
