An army veteran and a current soldier were arrested this week on charges that they filmed themselves killing a dog by tying him to a tree and shooting him five times, People magazine reported.
Marinna Rollins, 23, and Jarren Heng, 25, reportedly can be heard in the video laughing as they shoot Rollins’s dog, Cam, multiple times with a rifle. Heng is currently a soldier at Fort Bragg; Rollins is a veteran.
“They can be heard on the tape laughing and giggling as the dog was being killed,” Cumberland County District Attorney Clark Reaves said at the pair’s court appearance yesterday. At one point, Heng asks Rollins to let him shoot the dog also, investigators said.
Cam was Rollins’s therapy dog, who she adopted to help her with PTSD, her friends told a local news station. In the video, a woman’s voice, likely Rollins’s, can be heard talking to the dog, according to
“It’s been real, Cammy, I love you. You’re my puppy. You’re a good puppy,” she says.
Rollins and Heng were given felony charges of cruelty to animals and conspiracy.
