Cierra Alexis Sutton, a Texas woman, has been arrested after fleeing from police. She is being accused of murdering and dismembering her boyfriend.
According to USA Today, Sutton has been charged with the murder of Steven Coleman. Detectives say the crime happened earlier this summer following a heated argument. Sutton allegedly shot Coleman in the head while he was sleeping. Supposedly, she later chopped his body into pieces and put the parts in different dumpsters.
Friends of Sutton's say she confessed her crimes to them. She claims she had to dismember his body because it was "too heavy" to carry in one piece.
Sutton's 10-year-old daughter was reportedly home at the time.
“How did we not hear anything? Heard nothing at all ... She acted like she knew nothing about anything. She was trying to call him, hadn’t heard from him. Family members didn’t get a response," wondered Mikki Rogers, a downstairs neighbor.
“There’s always been smiles, talk, no signs of anything that would indicate something like this," added Donald Wooten, another neighbor.
Sutton reported Coleman as missing to police two days after his death.
A male torso which matched the description of the missing person's was found at a landfill nearby. The remains have not yet been identified as Coleman's.
Sutton had fled to Louisiana and was found by police last week. A court date for her trial has not yet been set.
