The family of a mother of six in Arizona is demanding answers about who shot and killed the woman as she waited for a bus last week.

Cleopatra Johnson-Morton, 45, was waiting at a bus stop near 40th Avenue and Indian School Road on Friday, according to a media release from the Phoenix Police Department. Police said officers arrived on the scene at around 10 p.m. after receiving a call and found the victim shot to death.

Johnson-Morton's family is left reeling and wondering why someone would want to shoot the woman, who leaves behind six children and a grieving ex-husband.

“Someone took her life for no apparent reason,” Kobie Morton, her ex-husband, told ABC 17 News

“[I] couldn’t believe it at first — I thought it sounded unreal,” Morton told Phoenix’s Fox 10. “I’m going through a lot of pain right now. My kids just left their mom, so basically, I’m going through a lot of emotions.”

Police said that they have made no arrests as of Tuesday afternoon and the investigation is ongoing.

Johnson-Morton's family has created a GoFundMe page dedicated to raising money for her funeral.

Zenajah Morton, her daughter, told Fox 10 that the last time she spoke with her mother was not on the best terms.

“It wasn’t on a good note, to be honest. That’s why it hit me harder,” said Zenajah, as she encouraged the shooter to come forward.

“At the same time, come forward, say what you did, and pay the price," she said. "Because at the end of the day, if we can’t do it, God will.”

Johnson-Morton's stepson, Kobie Morton, told ABC 17 that he will remember her for her humor.

“Her personality, she always made us laugh," he told the station. “That is what I will miss most about her.”
