Britney Spears said her fans went “a little too far” after the sheriff’s office was called to her home Tuesday for a welfare check.

“As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls,” Spears wrote on Twitter after the incident. “I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.”

Spears said sheriff’s deputies “never entered” her California home and “quickly realized there was no issue” after coming to her gate and then “left immediately.”

“This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,” she continued. “During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward.”

Sgt. Jason Karol of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to CNN that deputies went to the singer’s home “out of an abundance of caution” after they “received some calls from concerned fans” after Spears deleted her Instagram account.

Once there, law enforcement officers “determined she was safe and in no danger” and left, he said.

Oxygen.com reached out to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office but did not receive an immediate response.

It isn’t the first time Spears has deleted her Instagram account. Shortly before her account was deactivated, she had taken to Instagram to leave a cryptic message.

“Sucks to be me,” she wrote, according to Page Six, “Giving someone I love my everything only gives me the dagger in my heart !!!”

While some speculated that the message may have been referring to her husband Sam Asghari, he seemingly addressed the rumors in an Instagram post of his own.

“Don’t believe what you read online people,” he wrote, according to the news outlet.

Spears has made headlines in recent years as she fought to dissolve a conservatorship that put her father Jamie Spears in control of many aspects of her life, prompting the #freeBritney movement.

The conservatorship was terminated by a judge in November of 2021.
