Kim Kardashian’s Friend 'Foodgod' Jonathan Cheban Reportedly Lost $250K Watch To Armed Robber
Jonathan Cheban has appeared on numerous episodes of "Keeping up with the Kardashians."
Reality TV personality Jonathan Cheban was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in New Jersey over the weekend and had jewelry worth nearly a quarter of a million dollars stolen.
Cheban, who has been known as "Foodgod" since legally changing his name last year, was with his mother and an unnamed friend on Sunday when the robbery occurred, his representative confirmed to PEOPLE. The assailant made off with Cheban's $250,000 Richard Mille watch and has yet to be apprehended, according to the outlet.
Officers with the Englewood Cliffs Police Department responded to the scene within one minute after receiving a 911 call at around 8:30 p.m. reporting an armed robbery, the department said in a news release that does not identify Cheban as the victim. The suspected robber approached the victim — Cheban — as he was exiting his vehicle in a driveway and asked for the time.
The unidentified man then took out a handgun and pointed it at Cheban's group before taking the $250,000 watch from Cheban's wrist, according to police. He then allegedly fled the scene on foot and met up with a second suspect.
No one was harmed during the robbery, though police did say that Cheban sustained minor injuries to his wrist when his watch was taken from him. Although responding officers used K-9 units to track the suspects, both men are still at large, police said.
Authorities have described the first suspect as a Hispanic man with dark skin who is believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s; at the time of the robbery, he was wearing a purple shirt, light blue jeans, and white and gray sneakers, police said. The second suspect has been described as a heavyset Hispanic man who was wearing a gray sweater at the time of the robbery. Police on Monday released a composite sketch, in black and white, of the first suspect, alongside photos of Cheban’s stolen watch.
During the robbery, the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at Cheban’s mother’s head, both PEOPLE and TMZ reported.
Cheban, 46, is a former publicist and reality TV personality who has appeared in numerous seasons of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” and is known to be close friends with Kim Kardashian West and the Kardashian family. Cheban’s own robbery comes nearly four years after Kardashian West was famously robbed at gunpoint while staying at a hotel in Paris, France.
