Mom Disappears After Being 'Antsy' At Son's Football Game

Los Angeles Police are searching for a 39-year-old mother who mysteriously disappeared after leaving her son’s football game looking “antsy.”

Her ex-husband Jim Wayne told NBC’s Dateline that Heidi Planck disappeared on October 17 after leaving her 10-year-old son’s game during halftime.

Her dog—who she had been with that day—was found abandoned on the 28th story of a downtown Los Angeles apartment building about three hours after she was last seen, he said.

Wayne said he became concerned about his ex-wife’s whereabouts three days later when she failed to pick their son up from school.

“She’s a devoted mother who would never, ever leave her son,” he said. “We have a 10-year-old boy at home that’s looking for his mom and we just need to find her.”

According to Wayne, he last saw Planck during their son’s football game, but she had seemed on edge at the time.

“She was a little bit antsy, yes. I don’t know why,” he told “Dateline.” “All I know is that was the last time I saw her or talked to her.”

Over the next few days, he said his son did not receive any texts or phone calls from Planck—who he shares 50/50 custody with—but it wasn’t until she failed to pick her son up from school that he knew something was wrong.

Wayne reported her missing to police that same day. Authorities conducted a welfare check at her home, reportedly finding it in pristine condition along with her phone and laptop, but there was no sign of the missing mom.

Investigators did find a message on her phone from a woman who had found her dog wandering alone on the 28th floor of an apartment building in downtown Los Angeles, Wayne said.

Friends are now trying to figure out how the dog may have gotten to the building and had been hoping to search the building’s parking garage for her 2017 grey Range Rover but they said they were refused by the apartment building management, who demanded a warrant, according to KCBS-TV.

“It seems to us that everything stems from that building where her dog was found,” a friend told the outlet.

Wayne and Planck’s friends say its unlike the 39-year-old to just disappear without any notice, particularly as her son’s 11th birthday is this week.

“Heidi’s family and friends are concerned for her safety,” Los Angeles Police said in a statement issued about the disappearance.

Federal agents and robbery homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department searched the missing woman’s home on Friday after going into the property with their guns drawn, KCBS-TV reports.

Oxygen.com reached out the Los Angeles Police Department to learn more about what investigators uncovered during the search, but did not receive an immediate response.

Planck’s friend Natalie John described the missing 39-year-old to Fox News as a “sweet soul” who was always willing to do anything to help those around her.

“Heidi is generous," she said. "Heidi is beautiful on the inside and on the outside also."

She is determined to do what she can to bring Planck home.

"We're not going to give up until we can hold you, we can hug you," she said. "We love you, Heidi."

Police have described Planck as a white female with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 5’3” tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. According to police, she was last seen wearing jeans and a grey sweater and was driving her 2017 grey Range Rover with the California license plate “U840X0.”

Anyone with information about the case, is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
