Pregnant Beauty Queen's Husband Shot To Death In Front Of Their Son In Alabama
Thomas Hand Jr., whose beauty queen wife Christine Kozlowski is pregnant with their second child, was shot dead on the street in front of their toddler son.
The husband of a pregnant beauty queen was shot dead on an Alabama street in front of the couple’s toddler son.
Former Miss Mississippi Christine Kozlowski, 33, posted on Facebook that her husband Thomas Hand Jr., 37, was shot dead on Saturday. Their 2-year-old son was present during the shooting, WLOX reports.
The Montgomery Police Department confirmed the Saturday afternoon shooting in a press release provided to Oxygen.com.
They noted that Hand “sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene."
The department arrested Jerimiah Walker, 17, at the scene and charged him with capital murder in connection with the shooting, according to the release. The adult charge of capital murder in this case occurred because the incident occurred in the presence of a child under the age of 14, WSFA reports.
A motive for the slaying has not been disclosed.
Just two days before the shooting, Kozlowski (who was crowned Miss Mississippi in 2008) and Hand celebrated their sixth anniversary.
“Anyway I never post much but wanted you to know today makes 6 years, happy anniversary Christine I love you very much,” the now-slain father wrote. “I can’t wait to meet our next baby this summer which is why I didn’t purchase you anything as I have already given you a gift.”
The shooting remains under investigation.
"No additional information is available for release in connection to this continuing investigation," police stated in their press release.
It is not clear if Walker has an attorney.
“I appreciate and welcome all of the messages, I’m just overwhelmed with all the questions and retelling of the details of what happened,” Kozlowski stated on her Facebook. “I will at a later date release more information to explain everything to everyone.”
Funeral services for Hand will be held in Metairie, La., where Hand is from.
