Boyfriend Of Missing Teen Kiely Rodni Urged Her To Be Safe The Night She Disappeared: 'Don't Like, Do Anything Stupid'
“I don’t know where she is. We don’t have anything to go off of at this point. But, I fully believe that she’s alive and well,” Jagger Westfall said of his continued hopes to find his 16-year-old girlfriend Kiely Rodni alive.
Missing California teen Kiely Rodni’s boyfriend urged her to be safe in some of his final words to her before she vanished.
“Be safe. Don’t like, do anything stupid,” Jagger Westfall told KTXL he'd texted Rodni before she left Aug. 5 for an end of the summer graduation bash at the Prosser Family Campground.
As the night went on, Jagger complained to Rodni about his day via text before he received his final text message from her.
“Then at 10:30 p.m., she responded to what I was saying, and just said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry that you’re going through that,” Westfall said. “And that was the last time I heard from her.”
Westfall and Rodni’s close friends are now hoping the 16-year-old will be found safe as authorities continue to scour the surrounding area in extensive air, ground and water searches for any sign of the teen or her missing 2013 silver Honda CRV.
Authorities say Rodni was last seen Saturday morning around 12:30 a.m. She texted her mom around the same time saying she planned to leave the party soon, but according to comments Angela Musallam, the public information officer for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, made at a press conference Wednesday, investigators have been unable to find any witnesses who saw the teen actually leave the party. Her phone was also turned off shortly after 12:30 a.m.
“We continue to investigate every single lead that comes to us,” Musallam said. “We continue to exhaust every lead. We urge the public, please, if anybody knows these 200 to 300 juveniles or young adults who were at the Prosser Family campground between Friday evening and early Saturday morning to please come forward.”
According to Nevada County Sheriff’s Capt. Sam Brown, one of the biggest challenges in the search to find Rodni is that authorities are not sure of the exact location where she disappeared.
“We’re struggling with clues and so searches aren’t super successful if you don’t have a direction of where to search,” he said Wednesday. “At this point, we have a point last seen and we’re expanding beyond that point last seen in a systematic way that hopefully is capturing right-of-ways and things that would make sense for somebody who was leaving the area.”
Rodni was officially added to the FBI’s missing persons database on Thursday.
Authorities have described the 5’7” blonde as having numerous piercings, including a nose ring, ear piercings and belly button piercing. She also has a tattoo of the number “17” on her ribs.
Surveillance footage showed Rodni at a local Truckee business at 6:08 p.m. the night of Aug. 5 wearing a black spaghetti strap body suit, green Dickies brand pants, a black grommet belt and black Vans shoes.
Investigators have said she was also in possession of a grey Lana Del Rey hooded sweatshirt that night, although they are unsure whether she was wearing it at the party.
On Thursday, investigators also released a new image of the teen, which showed the jewelry authorities believe she had been wearing that night.
Rodni’s friend Kate Cuno, who had spent the afternoon with her that day making crème brulee, told KTXL that she doesn’t believe her friend would have run away.
“Everything was normal,” Cuno said.
Rodni's friend Sami Smith, who had been with her the night of the party, previously told Fox News that Rodni had been drinking the night of the party, but she doesn't believe the 16-year-old would have gotten behind the wheel.
"For the amount of drinks we both had together, she's not that dumb," she said, adding "she's not the type to go and drunk drive or anything."
Westfall is still hoping his girlfriend is found safe.
“I don’t know where she is. We don’t have anything to go off of at this point. But, I fully believe that she’s alive and well,” he said.
