Virginia Couple Charged After Boy’s Frozen Body Found In A Freezer

The body of Eliel Adon Weaver, who police suspect was under the age of five when he died, had been locked in his parent's freezer for approximately two years. An autopsy is pending to determine his cause of death.

A Virginia couple has been arrested after a boy's body was discovered in a freezer where the child had apparently been stashed years ago, police said this week.

Eliel Adon Weaver’s frozen remains were found in a freezer in the home of his parents, Kassceen Weaver, 49, and Dina Weaver, 48, in Midlothian, Virginia on May 4, according to Chesterfield County Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the couple’s home after reports came in that a child’s corpse was hidden there. Detectives executing a search warrant found Eliel's remains in the home’s freezer.

The boy’s remains were positively identified by the county medical examiner in late June. It’s unclear exactly when Eliel died; officials suspect he was under the age of five at the time of his death. An autopsy is pending.

“This is a unique death investigation,” Major Mike Louth, a bureau commander for Chesterfield County Police, told Oxygen.com. “We have human remains that have been in a freezer for — we’re anticipating or approximating — about two years.”

Law enforcement declined to specify whether foul play is suspected.

“I just want to see where the facts take us,” Louth added.

The child’s body had to thaw before a team of specialists and forensic anthropologists could properly examine the remains earlier this spring.

“Given the fact that it's been in the freezer for an extended amount of time it takes a little while for the office of the chief medical examiner to prepare the body or the remains to be able to do an autopsy on it,” Louth stated.

The autopsy findings could come back anytime within the next couple of weeks, Louth said.

A child found alive in the Weaver’s home has since been placed in foster care, police said. Officials described the child as “healthy."

Both of the Weavers were charged with conspiracy to conceal a body and failing to render aid to a child in relation to this investigation. They could face additional charges, depending on the autopsy results.

Kassceen Weaver has also been charged with concealment of a body as well as the domestic assault and malicious wounding of an adult female who is known to him.

The couple, who are married, were known to law enforcement. Officers had been dispatched to their home in 2018 regarding a domestic disturbance; no charges were filed in that incident.

The case has been difficult on investigators, officials said.

“A lot of us have children, too,” Louth said. “At the end of the day, it’s a child that we’re dealing with...We’re fact-finders trying to gather all the facts as best we can.”

The Weaver’s have since been released on bond and are scheduled back in court on Aug. 5. Attorney information for the Virginia couple wasn’t immediately available.

Stacey Davenport, the Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney, declined to comment on the open investigation when contacted by Oxygen.com on Wednesday.
