A Florida man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly shooting his mother to death after a petty argument turned violent.

Luis Martin Pages, 29, called 911 on Sunday to turn himself in, allegedly admitting to authorities that he “lost it” and fatally shot his mother, local outlet WPLG reports. When police arrived at the North Miami Beach home, they found Pages' mother, 59-year-old Miriam Gonzalez, dead; Pages again allegedly admitted to killing his mother, telling the responding officer, “I killed her. Take me to jail,” according to an arrest report obtained by the outlet.

A series of seemingly small arguments preceded Gonzalez's death, WPEC reports. Pages reportedly told authorities that he asked his mother if he could borrow her car to go job-hunting, but she refused because it was Labor Day and she didn’t think anything would be open. He said he then took orange juice out of the fridge, and she took it from his hands and threw it away.

Pages also claimed that he asked his mother to use the air conditioner remote, but she said no, WPLG reports. He alleged that, at one point, she threatened him with a pink knife.

Pages allegedly admitted to police that the argument escalated and he took out a handgun and shot his mother multiple times; he did not keep count, but fired until he ran out of bullets in his gun, according to WPEC. He then reportedly tried to shoot himself, but had run out of ammunition.

Pages is currently in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he is being held without bond on a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon, online jail records show.
