Missing Los Angeles Mom Of 2 Is Found Dead In Backseat Of Her Car

Mikeona Johnson was missing for days before her vehicle was found parked near her Los Angeles home, in a case that has baffled her family.

The search for a missing Los Angeles mom of two has ended in tragedy.

Los Angeles Police Department Det. Refugio Garza confirmed to Oxygen.com Friday morning that police had discovered the body of 23-year-old Mikeona Johnson in the backseat of her own vehicle Wednesday after receiving an anonymous tip that led them to the area.

Johnson was last seen late on the evening of September 9 and was reported missing the following day, Garza said.

Although it remains a “fresh case,” Garza said investigators believe there “is a possibility that there is foul play” because of the fact that she had been missing for multiple days before her body was found.

Investigators are awaiting an autopsy to confirm the cause of death in the case.

The 2003 silver Mercedes-Benz was discovered just blocks away from where Johnson lived — but relatives said in the week since she had disappeared they had regularly canvassed the area and did not find the vehicle, KCBS-TV reports.

“The car wasn’t there, and all of the sudden the car was there,” her cousin Kashe Amos told the station. “Me and her sister have been out here every day looking for her, and somehow her car ended up on this street that we done been down every day.”

Family members said that they believe Johnson had been with her partner and father of her 1-year-old daughter before she disappeared.

“She was innocent,” her sister Allisha Tillman told the local station. “She don’t do nothing. That girl go to school, take care of her kids, make sure her kids is OK.”

Garza said investigators do not have any suspects at this time and the investigation into the death remains ongoing.

Marlissa Collier, who described herself as Johnson’s aunt, also took to Facebook earlier this week to honor her niece, who she described as an “old, conscious soul, who believed in people.”

Collier also thanked those who had helped in the search for her missing niece.

“So, thank you all for how quickly you moved, how intently you watched, and how fervently you prayed,” she wrote.

She also asked people to pray for “Mikey’s two baby girls” who she left behind.

“They’ll need us more than ever,” she wrote. “Rest easy, baby girl. You’re in good company up there.”

The family is now hoping to find justice for the slain mother.

“My mom gotta bury her daughter,” Tillman said. “I gotta bury my sister, and somebody knows something.”

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact authorities.
