A Minnesota woman who was initially reported missing following a walk has been found dead inside her home, and her husband has been arrested in connection with her death.

Maria Fury, 28, was reported missing on Thursday, the Maple Grove Police Department said in a news release. She was believed to have last been seen taking a walk near her Maple Grove home at around 11 a.m. but had not been heard from since, prompting an investigation involving the MGPD and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. Extensive searches commenced, with authorities asking that homeowners check their properties for “anything suspicious.”

However, the search for Fury came to a tragic end days later; she was found deceased in her home on Saturday, and a suspect has been taken into custody in connection to her death, authorities said in a second update.

Police confirmed to local outlet WCCO that he is a 28-year-old man, who has since been identified as her husband, Joshua Fury, PEOPLE reports.

Joshua Fury is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail and is facing a murder charge, online records show.

“This is a devastating time for Maria’s family and the community,” reads a statement from the Maple Grove Police Department. “The case was originally reported as a missing person. There was a tremendous outpouring of support from the community who volunteered to search for Maria. … We ask you to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Police did not release any information regarding how Maria Fury died, and did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Oxygen.com.

In a statement obtained by WCCO, Maria Fury’s family mourned their loss but asked that others focus on the good in the world.

“She was a joy, light and treasure,” their statement reads, in part. “As our family honors Maria's memory, and the immense joy that she brought to us all, we encourage you to focus on all the positive in the world.”
