Pastor Andrew Cote Allegedly Murdered Neighbor Mildred Olivo

A Las Vegas pastor fatally shot his elderly neighbor and a 56-year-old man in front of his young daughter this week, metro police alleged.

Andrew Cote, 36, had been feuding with his neighbor Mildred Olivo, 71,  for the past several years, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Ray Spenser told the Las Vegas Sun. One of the neighbors had taken out a restraining order against the other, and police had been called to their properties multiple times in recent months, Spenser said.

The afternoon of June 25, authorities responded after Olivo allegedly sprayed Cote and one of his kids with a garden hose during an argument, according to an arrest report obtained by Oxygen.com.

Later that day, Olivo called her friend, Timothy Hanson, 56, to come to her house because she said she was afraid of Cote, family members of Olivo told local station KLAS-TV.

That night, Olivo was in her backyard hot tub when Cote reportedly yelled across the brick wall dividing their properties — telling his neighbor to put clothes on. This was apparently a long-simmering point of contention between the neighbors, according to the Sun.

Cote’s young daughter was outside in the yard when Hanson, who was at Olivo's house at this point, reportedly began yelling back at the pastor. The dispute somehow escalated, and Cote allegedly stepped out of his home armed with a shotgun.

Cote shot both Olivo and Hanson in the head, police alleged. Cote told officers he shot Hanson again because he was still moving, according to the arrest report.

The pastor then took his daughter inside and called the police, according to the report.

Olivo and Hanson were dead when an ambulance arrived,

Cote serves as a pastor at the Baptist church Iglesia Bautista de Fe y Amor, according to the church’s voicemail. The church’s website, ibfalv.com, is currently under maintenance and unavailable. Cote also lists himself as the church's pastor on his LinkedIn page.

Cote has been charged with two counts of open murder, according to online jail records. He is being held without bail. It is unclear whether Cote has an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
