A California man has been jailed on a number of charges for allegedly holding a woman captive at his home, according to law enforcement officials.

Peter Anthony McGuire, 59, was arrested on June 11 for the false imprisonment of an unidentified woman victim, whom he allegedly physically and sexually assaulted over the period of several months, the Chino Hills Police Department said in a press release on June 11.

He's been charged with kidnapping, torture, aggravated mayhem, rape, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon, according to online jail records obtained by Oxygen.com

Deputies were dispatched to Alterra Park in Chino Hills at approximately 7:21 p.m. on on June 9, where they made contact with the alleged woman victim. The unidentified woman told law enforcement that McGuire had held her captive and alleged he had “tortured, physically assaulted and raped,” her, per the police press release.

“The victim escaped from McGuire's residence minutes prior to speaking with deputies,” Chino Hills Police Department said in their statement last week.

The victim had sustained visible injuries to her body that police say matched her statements.

Police later executed a search warrant at McGuire’s residence in the 162000 block of Cordovan Court in Chino Hills. Investigators allegedly recovered evidence during their search of the home, but McGuire had fled before law enforcement was able to serve the warrant.

A San Bernardino Sheriff’s SWAT team later discovered that McGuire was hiding out at a property in Placentia, California, about 14 miles southwest of Chino Hills. Deputies confronted McGuire at the residence on June 11 with a warrant for his arrest.

McGuire initially refused to come outside of the house and briefly barricaded himself inside the Placentia property but was ultimately taken into police custody after he surrendered.

Investigators haven’t yet specified a possible motive for the series of alleged crimes of which McGuire is accused. The medical current condition of the victim also wasn’t released by law enforcement. It’s unknown how long exactly she may have been held in captivity.

No further information was immediately provided by local law enforcement regarding the active case this week. A spokesperson for the Chino Hills Police Department didn’t immediately respond to Oxygen.com’s request for comment by telephone and email on Wednesday afternoon.

McGuire is currently being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center in San Bernardino County, online records show. It’s unclear if he has yet entered a plea or if he’s retained a defense attorney to comment on his behalf. The 59-year-old Chino Hills man is set to appear in Rancho Superior Court regarding the charges on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

Anyone who may have come in contact with McGuire or who might have further information about the ongoing case is urged to contact Detective Ryan Girard or Deputy Dan Renear at the Chino Hills Police Department by calling 909-364-2000.
