The search for a missing Tennessee mother of two, who was last seen earlier this month in the company of her ex-husband is underway, according to the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office.

Britney Watson, 34, was last seen between noon and 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at a motel on Interstate 40 in Jackson, the department wrote in a press release. Her abandoned vehicle was found several miles away.

A vehicle belonging to her ex-husband and person of interest Kevin Watson was found in the area of Big Eddy Lake, north of Brownsville on Sunday, Sheriff Billy Garrett Jr. told Fox News Digital. He said the department has “evidence that indicates” Kevin may be armed and suicidal, including a troubling note found in his truck.

A dispatcher at the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office told Oxygen.com that Garrett was at the search area and unable to answer further questions about the case Tuesday.

“We will probably be able to locate him because, as I said, we found the truck, we found the note, and we have tracking dogs out there [that are] going to help us search the area,” he said of the manhunt. “We are also using deputies on foot and in a drone unit.”

The ex-couple were reportedly trying to rekindle their relationship after divorcing four years earlier and were experiencing some “domestic issues,” Garrett told Fox. He also told the outlet that his department has reason to believe that Britney is dead.

“It’s a tragic situation here, a domestic situation. We need to keep in mind that there are two small children in this situation and pray for them and their family.”

The sheriff’s office also brought cadaver dogs to Britney’s home on Hillville Loop in Haywood County, but did not uncover any remains. Teams using SONAR will search the nearby Hatchie River on Tuesday.

Britney stands at five-feet, nine-inches, weighs approximately 125 pounds and has light brown hair, according to the department. She was last seen wearing jeans and a gray hoodie.

A cousin of Britney's, who asked not to be identified, spoke in the past tense about the missing woman.

“Britney was Britney,” she told CBS Memphis affiliate WREG. “She was spontaneous. She was wild. She was crazy. She loved her kids. She loved her family. She’d do anything for you. She didn’t deserve this.”
