Missing San Antonio Mom Last Seen On Surveillance Footage Going Into Bedroom But Never Coming Out

Cecilia Huerta Gallegos' family has begun to fear the worst, as her sister says “our hearts tell us she’s no longer with us.” Her husband, Reyes Gallegos, is in custody.

A missing San Antonio mom was captured on surveillance footage going into the bedroom she shared with her husband in July, but is never seen leaving the room.

Cecilia Huerta Gallegos was last captured on surveillance cameras at the family’s home on July 7—just after she had returned home from work around 7:30 p.m. The mom of four is seen going into her bedroom at 7:53 p.m. but is never seen coming out of the room, according to local station KENS.

Investigators did see Gallegos’ husband Reyes Gallegos’ in the footage seemingly trying to keep her children—two of whom she shared with Reyes Gallegos—away from the bedroom, according to an affidavit obtained by KENS.

The couple’s children later told authorities they had heard the couple arguing that night, KSAT reports.

The cameras later shut off at 2:08 a.m. on July 8 and didn’t come back on until 3:44 a.m. that same morning.

Reyes Gallegos reportedly told police that he and his wife had an argument about infidelity on July 8 and that she later left the home on foot after slicing him on the finger with a knife. San Antonio Police were called to the couple’s home for a “cutting in progress” on July 8, but when they arrived at the home Cecilia Gallegos was nowhere to be found.

Authorities noticed visible injuries to Reyes Gallegos’ face, in addition to a large scratch mark on his chest and superficial cut on his index finger, the affidavit states.

But after securing a search warrant to view video surveillance footage captured both inside and outside the couple’s home, investigators began to question his story.

Reyes Gallegos was arrested Thursday on charges of filing a false report to police in connection to the disappearance of his wife.

After the video footage resumed, Reyes Gallegos allegedly can be seen leaving the home several times in a white Chevy Tahoe in the early morning hours of July 8. One of the trips lasted more than two hours—from 6:27 a.m. to 8:48 a.m. After he returns home, Reyes Gallegos allegedly can be seen unloading a chainsaw, shovel, trash bag and cleaning supplies from the vehicle.

It then appears that he took a shower before making the call to police about the “cutting in progress.”

Before the 30-year-old went missing, her sister Mireya Lopez told KSAT her sister had called family members to warn them that something bad may happen to her.

“She had money put up because she was trying to get a house and to put an alarm system in case for their safety,” she said.

Cecilia Gallegos had worked at the St. Francis Nursing Home. Her children range in age from 6 to 14 years old.

Now, more than two months since the missing mom was last seen, friends and family continue to conduct searches to try to find her—although they acknowledge they likely won’t find her alive.

“We don’t want to accept it, but our hearts tell us she’s no longer with us,” Lopez said.

The missing mom’s children are currently being cared for by one of Cecilia Gallegos’ sisters who lives in Houston, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

Reyes Gallegos has also been charged with assault in another incident. The victim’s name in that incident has not been released.
