The attack happened during rush hour in the middle of a busy highway in New York.

The young men spill into the median, fists raised, shirts off and barefoot, raging and swinging, some with weapons. The victim recoils and tries to escape, someone gets one final hit.

This was the chaotic scene captured by a cell phone camera on June 18 when a vicious group of young men attacked a 14-year-old boy in the median of a busy New York City Highway.

Police have arrested one person in connection with the attack: Ramon Paulino, 21, from the Bronx, and charged him with attempted murder, gang assault, and assault in the rush hour attack.

The video, obtained by Oxygen.com, was released by police on Tuesday in the hopes of catching the rest of the people responsible.

Police responded to the call around 5:30 p.m. and when they arrived they found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to his body. Emergency workers transported him to Jacobi Medical Center, where's he's in critical condition. They have not released his name.

Neighbors in the area told WNBC in New York they often see teenagers swimming in the river and the fight probably started there, and spilled into traffic.

The attack is similar to the recent slaying of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, who was dragged from a bodega and slashed in the neck by members of the Trinitarios street gang, who mistook him for a rival. Police believe the same gang may be involved in the parkway attack.

Police are asking anyone that recognizes any of the people in the video to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
