Chris Brown Arrested In Paris Over Rape Allegation

Chris Brown and two others are still in the custody of French authorities after a woman says Brown raped her in a hotel room.

Chris Brown and two others have been detained in Paris in response to a rape allegation and drug charges, multiple outlets report.

The 29-year-old singer was arrested on Monday on suspicion of aggravated rape and unspecified drug charges, an unnamed judicial official confirmed to the Associated Press. He remained in custody as of Tuesday and can be detained for up to two more days before officials have to either release him or file preliminary charges.

Two others were also arrested alongside Brown; their identities have not been verified, but the official confirmed that one of the individuals is Brown’s bodyguard.

Brown’s alleged victim claims that she met him and his entourage overnight on Jan. 15-16 at the club Le Crystal and says that they all went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel together, the official told the Associated Press. She says that the rape occurred at the hotel, according to TMZ.

The “Grass Ain’t Greener” singer has not commented publicly on his arrest, but one of his latest Instagram updates suggests that he was rehearsing in Paris this week.

Brown’s publicist also declined to comment on the matter, the Associated Press reports.

Brown has seen his fair share of legal trouble in recent years. An unnamed woman filed a lawsuit against him in May claiming that she was raped by one of his friends at an after-party at Brown’s house, and accused him of ordering the door blocked, allowing it to happen. He was arrested for felony battery two months later, in July, for allegedly punching a photographer the year before.

Most notably, however, Brown was arrested in 2009 for assaulting his then-girlfriend, pop superstar Rihanna; he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years probation.
