Fabolous has been arrested for allegedly striking his ex-girlfriend Emily Bustamante. The rapper (real name John David Jackson) was arrested Wednesday night for aggravated assault and making terroristic threats, TMZ reports.
Multiple sources, connected to the couple as well as in law enforcement, tell the media outlet that Bustamante, known as "Emily B." of "Love & Hip Hop" fame, contacted authorities and stated that Fabolous had hit her. The sources add that Fabolous turned himself in to New Jersey authorities Wednesday evening. He apparently did not spend time in jail but was cited and given a ticket for a future court appearance.
On Instagram Stories, the rapper posted a photo Wednesday night stating that the year was trying to "break" his heart. It's unclear when this was posted in relation to the arrest.
Rolling Stone reached out to a rep for the rapper and did not receive comment. Alberto Ebanks, the rapper's attorney, told Billboard that he doesn't believe the allegations: "I've known Fab close to 20 years and believe he is incapable of engaging in the alleged conduct."
Fabolous and Emily B. had an on-again, off-again relationship for several years. In 2016, when a fan joked that the rapper would never marry the mother of his children, he clapped back.
"Thank you for a respectful feedback comment,” he wrote. "People think they know what’s best for your life but can’t do what best for themselves. Even on a pic celebrating someone else’s union of love they waste their time commenting on when I’m gonna marry someone...Your two cents & gonna make me get married or contribute to the wedding bills so stop commenting & go plan your wedding. And if your already married go comment on your husband/wife pics. Losers swear they can tell you how to be a winner smh,” according to BET.
Fabolous and Emily have two children together, 2-year-old Jonas Jackson and 10-year-old Johan Jackson. It's unclear if the couple is officially together at this time or not.
