An 8-year-old Florida girl who seems poised to become a detective later in life helped nab a suspect accused of stealing multiple packages from homes around her neighborhood.

The suspect, 34-year-old Carlos Aldolfo Moreno-Marquez, was arrested early Sunday for allegedly stealing three different packages, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office tweeted over the weekend.

“An 8 yr old girl witnessed a theft and took a picture of the vehicle and tag and reported it to us,” police tweeted, adding that Moreno-Marquez admitted to the three thefts.

The little girl, who has not been identified, described to a local news outlet what she did.

“I told my mom that I saw the man stealing the box and she called my dad,” she told WOFL in Orlando. “My dad followed the car and took a picture of the license plate.”

The box was apparently a package of toilet paper, valued at about $35 dollars, from her front porch, according to Spectrum 13 News in Orlando.

Neighbor Jennifer Lutes is grateful for her observant little neighbor.

“She sprung (sic) into action and we are just thrilled to have a young neighbor, a young woman, like this living next door. See something, say something was really applicable here,” she told WOFL.

In the other two alleged package-swiping incidents, Moreno-Marquez is accused of stealing a Dyson vacuum, an iPad case and other items. All the packages appear to have been stolen from front porches.

Moreno-Marquez is facing grand theft and burglary charges for the alleged thefts, Spectrum 13 News reports. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf at this time.
