Police are searching for a missing New York City teen who may have run away to London to meet an older man.

Victoria Grabowski, 16, was last seen Saturday around 10 a.m. at her home in Maspeth. Her family believes the teen made the trans-Atlantic trip after texting with an older man in Britain.

“The texts show that she got fascinated with London and wanted to move there,” her uncle Arkadiusz Grabowski told QNS.

He said the family is guessing the man’s age based on a picture they found in the text message history between the pair. The texts also indicated that she may have flown out of the country Saturday from JFK airport on her way to London.

The family believes she paid for the ticket in cash and used her Polish passport to board the flight. The missing teen is a Polish citizen.

Sources have also said it appears the teen took clothes and cash with her when she left, local station WCBS-TV reports.

The NYPD is now working with authorities in London to try to bring her back to the United States.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Force told the BBC that the organization had been contacted by the National Crime Agency about an American who authorities believe traveled to the United Kingdom.

“She is being treated as a missing person and inquiries to find her are ongoing,” she said.

The teen is being described as 5’3” tall with blue eyes and blonde hair. Anyone with information about her disappearance is urged to contact authorities.
