Missouri High School Track Coach Accused Of Four-Month Sexual Relationship With 17-Year-Old Boy

Ericka Oxford and the 17-year-old boy met up for sex as often as three times per week, investigators believe.

A volunteer track coach at a Missouri high school was charged Friday after she admitted to a sexual relationship with an underage male student athlete, according to reports.

Fort Zumwalt East High School officials were tipped off to 41-year-old Ericka Oxford's alleged abuse, KMOV reports. She surrendered to law enforcement at 9 a.m. on Friday and faces charges of felony sexual contact with a student.

The 17-year-old student involved told authorities about an alleged rendezvous at his home in May — which he said was broken up by his father.

Police say none of the sexual encounters actually took place on school grounds, but investigators believe the pair would meet up two to three times per week between April and August to have sex, according to court documents cited by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Laura Wagner, who is in charge of media relations for the school district, told KMOV that unpaid volunteers such as Oxford are prone to thorough background checks prior to taking on any roles in the district — and that Oxford passed hers.

“Shocked to hear about this? I honestly don’t believe it,” a person close to Oxford, who wished to remain anonymous, told KMOV in light of the charges becoming public. “She also helps out with things like football and stuff, she’s always involved.”

Oxford was released on $20,000 bond and is currently prohibited from contacting the victim or his family.
