New surveillance video has been released of the adult model and mother from Calera, Alabama who was found murdered outside her own home last week. The body, bloody and dressed in only a sports bra, of Kathleen West, 42, was found by her 12-year-old neighbor.
Footage shows her shopping inside a liquor store and buying alcohol with a man just hours before her death. Both appear to be in a jovial mood. West is smiling and laughing and the man even gives her a playful pat on her behind.
“They came in, it looked like they were on their date night," Stacey Oglesby, the liquor store clerk who rang them up told Inside Edition. "They bought a bottle of Jameson and a bottle of Lucid absinthe and made their purchase and went on their way. Everything was normal."
West went by the moniker Kitty Kat West on her own subscription-based website, according to AL.com. Rumors about her death have been circulated around the tiny town. Calera has a population of 3,158. Police have not revealed whether or not her career had anything to do with her murder. Some wish that people would stop trying to link the two.
"I wish for everyone to stop trying to connect online photos to her passing,” Sandie Kay, a member of The Cougar Club, a group where women over 35 share photos, told Inside Edition. "It is not like that. It doesn't necessarily mean indiscretion. They're just pictures!"
West was also a member of that club.
"The Kat that I knew was extremely supportive of every woman she was in contact with, a loving mom, giving and always had a smile.” Kay continued. “She was beautiful and loved being photographed."
West’s death has been ruled a homicide but police have not revealed exactly how she was murdered yet. One witness said she was bleeding from the head. No arrests have been made. It is still an open investigation. West leaves behind her husband, a campus officer, and 12-year-old daughter.
