Dramatic Image Shows Pittsburgh Steelers Supporter Grabbing Pregnant Chargers Fan By The Neck

Daniel Minshew, the victim's husband, said that the couple may pursue criminal charges against the rowdy rabble-rouser.

A game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers unfortunately saw some unnecessary roughness take place off the field Sunday, when a Steelers fan was caught on camera with his hands around a pregnant Chargers supporter's neck.

The unidentified man, clad in Steelers gear, was seen grabbing a woman in a light blue Chargers jersey by the neck before letting her go, according to local CBS affiliate KDKA-TV.

Daniel Minshew, the victim’s husband, said he and his wife, who had traveled from San Diego to attend the game, were verbally and physically berated by the same Steelers fan even before the brouhaha broke out, the Pittsburgh Current reports.

“My wife and I attend several road games annually and I myself have been to approximately a dozen away games and have never experienced anything like we did Sunday night,” Minshew told the Current in an email, adding that he plans on contacting police “about filing criminal charges.”

Shelley Lipton, a photographer who captured part of the skirmish and whose pictures appeared in the Current, told the paper she saw a Steelers fan start to attack Minshew, who at the time was wearing a suit decked out in Chargers lightning bolts. When Minshew’s wife attempted to break the brawl up, the Steelers fan put his hands around her neck.

Minshew, meanwhile, claimed he tried to tell security personnel to keep an eye on the hometown fans that were seated around them, but the guards only responded once someone put hands on his wife.

A spokesperson for Heinz Field, the Steelers' home stadium, said they are investigating the incident as well as considering banning those involved in the scuffle from attending future games.

"This type of behavior seen in the photo is unacceptable, something we do not condone on our property," they said in a statement according to WPXI. "We are working with Heinz Field security, as well as local authorities, to gather more information on this particular incident. We will ensure those involved as the aggressors will not be permitted back into our stadium."

Meanwhile, another violent episode from Sunday’s game also made headlines — only no Chargers fans were involved. Two Steelers supporters were filmed going at it in the stands, WXPI reports, with one man seen head-butting the other.

“It was two Steelers fans,” another fan who witnessed the fight told the outlet. “If it was the opposite team, maybe it would’ve been better. Not better, but like more understanding. Two Steelers fans going at it? Like, what?”
