A 22-year-old teacher and track coach at Conard High School in West Hartford, Connecticut was charged with sexual assault on Thursday for her alleged sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

According to the Hartford Courant, Tayler Ivy Boncal, 22, has been charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault. It is unclear if she has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf at this time.

Boncal was fired last month, at age 21, after a parent told the assistant superintendent of the allegations, reports Fox 61. Boncal is accused of having sex and oral sex with the victim.

According to the Scallywag & Vagabond, a spokesperson for the Town of West Hartford revealed that Boncal and the student were in love. The student’s parents have even asked that Boncal not be prosecuted for their taboo relationship which began after the teen asked Boncal for her phone number.

“The victim refused to provide a written statement,” police wrote in a statement. “The victim expressed concern for Boncal with regard to the outcome of this investigation.”

An arrest affidavit reveals that “Boncal stated that she loved the victim and was emotional regarding her feelings for him.”

Superintendent Tom Moore appears unimpressed with the "love" sentiment and said he is furious.

“Whether someone is 21, 41, or 61, the moment they are a part of a school as a student teacher, mentor, or coach, they enter into a sacred trust with our students and community,” Moore told the Hartford Courant
