A North Carolina woman is accused of tying up her husband and then using a hunting knife to sever his penis.

Victoria Thomas Frabutt, 56, is now facing charges of malicious castration and kidnapping for the alleged attack, which took place just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

Carteret County deputies were called to the scene of the couple’s Newport home at by James Frabutt, 61, who told authorities his wife had tied him up, pulled out a knife and forcefully cut off the delicate member, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The blade in question was a hunting knife, according to The New York Post.

Victoria Frabutt’s motive is still unknown, authorities said.

“The motive is still being investigated by detectives,” Carteret County Maj. Jason Wank told The Post.

Deputies were able to recover the severed penis at the scene Tuesday and immediately put it on ice, according to the sheriff’s office. It was taken to medical personnel at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, however, it’s unclear what condition it was in or whether doctors were able to perform a successful reattachment procedure.

James Frabutt’s current condition is unknown.

Victoria Frabutt was arrested Tuesday and is being held at Carteret County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for later Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Its unclear whether she has retained an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

The incident calls to mind the case of Lorena Bobbitt, who famously cut off the penis of her husband John Wayne Bobbitt in 1993. The notorious episode was the subject of an Amazon documentary named "Lorena," released earlier this year.
