A teen who allegedly tried to physically and sexually assault a woman on St. Patrick’s Day got a prominent shiner after the woman fought back.

The woman was standing outside El Reventon Sports Bar & Club in Deerfield Beach, Florida when she was approached by 18-year-old Henrry Gonzalez-Thomas, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel. He allegedly solicited her for sex.

“The victim repeatedly told the defendant that she was not a prostitute and attempted to walk around the defendant to approach the nightclub,” a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report states, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Not only did Gonzalez-Thomas not appear to understand that the woman was not a sex worker, but he allegedly became violent, punching the woman in her face before pulling her to the ground and attempting to sexually assault her. She fought back, kicking Gonzalez-Thomas and using her cell phone as a makeshift weapon to hit him in the face, which resulted in the black eye seen in his mugshot.

Gonzalez-Thomas allegedly choked her after she fought back. Investigators later noted finger-shaped bruising on her neck as well as a bad cut on her face from the alleged punch, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Onlookers intervened and although he tried to flee, Gonzalez-Thomas was brought down by the bystanders just a few blocks from the scene, according to local outlet WPLG.

He was arrested on charges of attempted sexual assault and investigators also allegedly found cocaine on him during the arrest, WPLG reports. That resulted in a cocaine possession charge being tacked on, according to online jail records.

Gonzalez-Thomas is being held on $10,000 bond. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf at this time.
