'Foul Play Suspected' In Death Of 9-Months Pregnant Woman Found In Park
A passerby found the body of Felicia Jones, 21, at a city park in Jacksonville.
A pregnant woman was found dead at a Florida city park, and investigators suspect foul play was involved.
The body of Felicia Jones, 21, was found by a passerby in Riverside Park on Saturday morning, according to First Coast News. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they are treating the woman’s death as a “suspicious death with foul play suspected,” according to the NBC affiliate.
Jones was nine months pregnant and due to give birth on Oct. 8.
“I want Jacksonville to come together on this. We can’t let this go,” said Felicia’s aunt, Angelica Williams, according to First Coast News. “This is a whole, unborn baby ready to be born in two weeks. A beautiful young lady who just turned 21 this month.”
According to a GoFundMe page created by Williams, the unborn baby did not survive.
“Our family took a major loss. We lost my niece and nephew,” the campaign stated. “This is a[n] unexpected tragedy for our family and [we] can’t believe we lost Felicia and her unborn child.”
The sheriff’s office has not stated what led them to determine the death as suspicious.
“We want the world to know that she was loved,” Williams continued. “Her baby was expected. We wanted this baby. I was super excited about my nephew. All of this has been taken away from us. We’re distraught right now.”
“Felicia, better known as Fee Fee, was a beautiful person inside and out,” Felicia’s aunt continued to First Coast News. “She had that bubbly spirit. Even if she was going through something, you wouldn’t be able to tell because she was that type of person where she had a lot of strength. She was super excited about being a first-time mom.”
The State Attorney’s Office is also investigating the death.
